The region of Lazio in Italy has crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, making it a very popular holiday destination. It was originally the heart of the Roman Empire and there are many ancient sites that have world heritage status. The coast of Lazio is mainly composed of sandy beaches, punctuated by the headlands of Circeo and Gaeta.
