Danni Menzies is house hunting with Shane and Sharon around La Cala de Mijas on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. The couple are dreaming of a holiday home close to the beach that they can escape to during the winter to enjoy the area’s great, all-year round outdoor lifestyle. They have a budget of £135,000 to buy an apartment or townhouse with two bedrooms so their family can come to visit, but can Danni rise to the challenge and find them the perfect property?

About the area

La Cala de Mijas translates to The Cove of Mijas and as you’d expect there’s plenty of lovely beaches nearby, like those in Riviera Del Sol and. Torrenueva, But it’s probably most famous for its golf courses, of which there are 26, all with great scenic views and interspersed with well-kept, popular urbanisations. Cala De Mijas itself is a typically Andalucian spot, with squares and whitewashed townhouses lining charming narrow streets. There’s also a twice weekly market here, filled with holidaymakers and locals stocking up on food, flowers and clothes.
