Diane and Kieran are looking for a permanent home in ever popular Mojácar, Spain with a maximum budget of £180,000 and expert guidance from Craig Rowe. Will the couple love any property enough to make the big move?
About the area
To get to Mojacar on the Costa Almeria in south eastern Spain, you fly to Almeria airport, which takes about three hours from the UK. It’s then just under an hour’s drive. Mojacar comes in two parts - the coastal Mojacar Playa, which is home to some great beaches and very popular with holidaymakers, and the hillside Mojacar Pueblo, which has more of a traditional Andalusian feel.
It’s the most popular tourist destination on the Costa Almeria, with around a quarter of a million visitors each year, and is also a very sought-after place to buy property. It’s a seller’s market here, with prices up 10% in the last year and some properties being snapped up even before hitting the market.
There’s lots of construction in the area, with some brand new three-bedroom townhouses with good outdoor space and a private pool that are close to amenities and the beach, going on the market at £286,000. But in the resale market, similar properties - maybe in need of some TLC - start at £168,000.
