Lee Juggurnauth is house hunting in the Lazio region of central Italy with sisters Stella and Maxine in search of the perfect holiday bolthole for Stella, working with a budget of £40,000. Lee has a real challenge on his hands here, but will any of the five great properties he has lined up impress enough for Stella to make an offer?
About the area
Flights into Italy's capital can be found frequently and fairly cheaply from across the UK and take around two hours. Rome lies at the heart of the beautiful, lush, and green region of Lazio, with a long coastline lapped by the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and a host of natural parks and beautiful lakes dotting its countryside. It’s a region that has everything.
We’ll be focusing this search in an area south of Rome, around one of this region’s many lakes, which is filled with traditional villages and picture-perfect towns. Around the popular lakes close to Rome, one-bedroom apartments with private outdoor space in good condition typically start off from around £70,000. But if Stella and Maxine are willing to do a little bit of work, we could get some great bargains for up to £30,000 less.
