Although they’ve never visited Malta before, Alan and Caroline are looking for a holiday home that will hopefully become their permanent home on the island of Malta. It’s for themselves and their 3 dogs. Ben Hillman is tasked with finding their perfect place for their maximum budget of £405,000. Will any of the five properties they see hit the spot?
About the area
Malta, the smallest country in the European Union, is an archipelago located in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and the coast of North Africa. It takes around three hours to get there from the UK with a variety of airlines. The country is formed by three islands — the largest being Malta, then Gozo and Comino. With its rich history dating back almost 7,000 years, crystal clear waters, and a typically Mediterranean climate, Malta is proof that good things can come in small packages.
Less than 100 square miles in size and with a population of just over half a million, land on Malta is at a premium. Traditional properties typically have three or four stories and a roof terrace but no garden, and for a fully restored property, that will start at around £600,000.
