Suzanne and David are looking for a permanent home on the Central Silver Coast in Portugal for a budget of £190,000 with the help of Ben Hillman. With their UK home already on the market the pressure is on for Ben to find their future dream home.
About the area
Western Portugal lies north of the capital city Lisbon and takes around two and a half hours to fly to from the UK. The Silver Coast, which gets its name from the colour of the Atlantic Ocean when the sun catches it at certain times, runs for nearly 100 miles along Portugal's west coast. It's popular with holiday makers and water sports enthusiasts in particular, and away from the sun, sea, and sand, this area is known for growing some great food and making some fine wine as well. And it's also a pretty tasty place to buy property.
Despite a slowdown in many European holiday destinations, the property market on Portugal's Silver Coast is thriving. You can buy a three-bed detached property in good condition, with lots of land and close to the beach, for around £300,000. But drive just 20 minutes inland and you can expect to pay about 25% less for a similar property.
