About the area
Located south of Barcelona, the Costa Dorada is a stunning stretch of coastline on the eastern seaboard of Spain. The easiest way to get there is a two-hour flight to Reus, then it's around a 20-minute drive.Less developed than its bigger Costa cousins to the south, the Costa Dorada, or the Golden Coast, lives up to its name with over 40 blue-flag, sun-kissed beaches. The area also boasts a rich history, with the region's main town of Tarragona containing a wealth of Roman ruins and impressive architecture.
With its turquoise waters, charming coastal towns, and fabulous climate, it's no wonder this place attracts around 3.5 million visitors each year. The Costa Dorada is in high demand, particularly from French and Belgian buyers, as well as city workers who are moving out of Barcelona to work remotely. For now though, prices remain some of the most affordable on Spain's northeast coast. For example, a three-bedroom house near the beach with a garden and a pool, you can expect to pay upwards of £160,000.
