What's the appeal?

Gran Canaria is one of Spain’s Canary Islands, off Northwestern Africa. It takes about 4 and a half hours to fly there directly from the UK. We’re house hunting on the south coast, around Playa del Ingles, about a 40 minute drive from the airport. This is the best known and busiest resort on the island. Tourists flock to its golden beaches, buzzing bars and hundreds of cafes and restaurants. It's also right next to the sand dunes of Maspalomas, a dramatic desert-like nature reserve, protected since 1897. The incredible dunes were created from strong winds sweeping across the Atlantic ocean. The island’s climate mirrors this landscape, warm all year with little rain and temperatures rarely dipping below 20 degrees. Combine this with a thriving nightlife and jaw dropping scenery and it’s clear Gran Canaria really is a sun seeker’s paradise.
