Charente, France - A Place in the Sun

Charente France Danni Menzies

Danni Menzies is in the glorious countryside of the Charente in Western France, helping Larraine and Gary find their new forever home. For years they’ve both led hectic lives and with Larraine now living with a chronic health problem, the couple can’t wait to spend quality time together relaxing in the great outdoors. They’d love to find a traditional house with plenty of character for their budget of £100,000, and Danni has come up with 5 fantastic options, but will any be the property of their dreams?

Charente

What's the appeal?

Charante is situated in south western France in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It’s within easy reach of Poitiers airport and flights from the UK take around one and a half hours. The Charente River runs through the region surrounded by beautiful countryside and vineyards and the area is famous for its cognac, sweet wine and Grand Champagne, regarded as one of the best champagnes in the world. This area of France is a popular destination for expat retirees drawn to the relaxed lifestyle and the local tourist board even claim you can live ten years longer here.
