Tarn, France - A Place in the Sun

Tarn France Laura Hamilton

Photographer, Nat and budding artist and writer, Ruth from Leicester fell in love with Tarn in France on holiday last year and were so inspired by the region’s quaint villages and beautiful scenery, they now want to buy a holiday home there. They’ve asked Laura Hamilton to help find them their perfect property, and Laura has 5 great options lined up for their £90,000 budget, but will any live up to their dreams?

Tarn

What's the appeal?

The Tarn department is to the east of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and to the north of Carcassonne (Aude) in southern France. The region is quiet and peaceful, and has several highlights for visitors, including part of the Natural Regional Parc of the Haut-Languedoc which falls in the south-east of the department. Tarn’s climate is a mixture of Mediterranean and Atlantic temperatures, drier than Aquitane to the West but not burdened by the stifling heat of Languedoc, Provence and the Riviera further south. Despite there not being any international airports within the departements’ limits, Toulouse, Carcassonne, Béziers, Montpellier and Rodez all offer regular flights to and from the UK.
