Property for sale in Guardamar del Segura

Located in the southern Costa Blanca to the north of Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura is a popular resort renowned for its many kilometres of fine sandy beaches backed by dunes and pine forests. Guardamar operates all the year round and it has a large permanent population.

There are many reasons why it is so popular. Surrounded on three sides by national parks, and with 12km of beaches, it has a long high street offering great shopping as well as a busy market every Wednesday morning. Guardamar del Segura’s Moors and Christians Festival also draws people from many areas.

It also has an attractive marina, Marina de la Dunas, connected to the town by pine tress and sand dunes of the Alfonso Park, which is the start of the Corridor Verde walking and cycling route alongside the Rio Segura, the river after which the town is named. Meanwhile, families love the Reina Sofia Park with its adventure playground and children's funfair and night market every summer.

Homebuyers like it because it is easily accessed - it is within 20 minutes of El Altet (Alicante airport) and a 45-minute drive to San Javier (Murcia) airport - and is also affordable. Like the nearby areas of Benijofar, Los Montesinos, Cuidad Quesada and Los Altos it offers a good range of nice contemporary new-build properties as well as plenty of choice of resales.

Prices start at around €70,000 for a two-bed resale apartment or a brand-new one-bedroom property in one of the blocks in town, although you’ll pay nearer €100,000 for one close to the beach, or with three bedrooms. There are plenty of two/three-bed townhouses or small villas for around €140,000, or smaller luxury new-builds.

The inland area of Guardamar is known as the Campo de Guardamar and includes both El Raso and Moncayo urbanisations. El Raso - popular with many full-time residents of various nationalities - has a commercial centre and a very popular Sunday market, which is locally known as ‘the Lemon Tree market’. There are also several golf courses nearby too, and great sports facilities in town.

This is a popular area with both full-time and part-time owners, families and retirees and ticks most boxes. Only a cab ride away from lively Torrevieja, it is a laid-back town perfect for beach lovers and walkers, ideal for those looking to purchase their dream Spanish property.
