Tarquinia, a medieval town famous for its archaeological remains, is situated just a few kilometres from Tuscany, in Northern Lazio, very close to Capalbio and Monte Argentario, less than an hour’s drive from Podere Santa Pia.
The town is situated on a small hill, overlooking the beautiful natural landscape of the Alta Tuscia below, and immersed in the valleys of the Marta River and of Bassa Maremma, in the heart of a territory rich in history.
The Golf Course of Tarquinia Country Club is in a green space of a beautiful residential area called “Marina Velca” and 5 km from Tarquinia. The private road winds elegantly along a hill surrounded by holm oaks, pines, eucalyptus and other trees typical of Mediterranean vegetation.
If you look to the West from the course’s Hole 5, you can see the sea: moving your gaze to the East, you can admire the Medieval Towers of Tarquinia, an ancient city housing a large and important Museum of Etruscan art and culture; the Cimini hills are located in the East-South adorning the Marta river valley.
The mild weather of this oasis gives golfers months of sun throughout the year.
Tarquinia is situated a little way inland from the Mediterranean coast, north-west of Rome in the Lazio region.

As close as Tarquinia is to Rome, it is another world. This is the world of everyday, small-town Italy. In Tarquinia, the pace is serene and the experience real. Tarquinia’s off-the-beaten-path authenticity alone would make it a luxury travel destination for lovers of authentic places.

The city of Tarquinia has a major archaeological heritage, and the whole area gives testimony to the civilizations which have flourished here such as the Etruscan ‘Tarchna’, the Greek and Roman emporium of ‘Gravisca’, and the medieval ‘Corneto’.
The most striking aspect of Tarquinia is undoubtedly the legacy left by the Etruscans. The Necropolis of Monterozzi (the highlight of your visit) dates back around 3000 years and has about 200 painted tombs.

Tomb decoration in the Necropolis of Monterozzi. underwent changes over time, and as a result teaches us of the passage of many later inhabitants, including Greeks who also worked in the splendid tombs leaving their artistic traces.

Tarquinia is today also a seaside resort. The coastal section, which the Etruscans used over the centuries for trade (importing iron from Elba and vases from Corinth for example) is now called the Lido di Tarquinia (Tarquinia beach).
