Cleto is a picturesque, traditional village built by the Normans on the slopes of Monte Sant'Angelo on the top of which they built a castle overlooking the valley to the sea, it offers many local amenities: grocery shops, bakers, café bars, post office, pizzeria etc. The town of Campora San Giovanni is situated approx. 10 minutes’ drive away where there are many other amenities available and a pleasant beach front offering beach bars and lidos during the summer months.
The village is set approx. 200m above sea level providing excellent year-round temperatures with hot summers and mild winter months. The vegetation is typical of the Mediterranean, the area is completely covered by olive trees and the nearby area of Savuto produces excellent wine from cultivating grapes. Oil production is also one of the essential resources of the local economy.
The towns of Amantea and Paola are only a short drive away where there is a large array of shops, bars, restaurants to be found, again beach bars and lido during the summer months. Many of the local towns host local and festivals throughout the year. Cleto is also conveniently positioned to explore many other traditional villages and the stunning National Park of La Sila is approx. 1 ½ hour drive away, where you can take advantage of the many year-round activities that are on offer, including walking, pony trekking, quad bikes and in the winter months, skiing. Within easy reach via the Autostrada among many other articles of archaeological interest. You can also take in the healing and relaxing qualities of Thermal Springs and Health Spa located at both Lamezia -La Caronte, and Guardia Piemontese – Terme Luigiane.
For the more active there is white water rafting on the River Lao at Scalea and kite surfing at Gizzeria – which hosts the World Championships.
