The beautiful market town of Fontenay le Compte is on the doorstep, and a market day visit (Saturday) is highly recommended. The River Vendee has its source close to la Chataigneraie, and riverside walks are always a delightful activity for sunny days.

Both TGV trains and budget air services will get you from the UK to La Rochelle, Nantes or Poitiers. The ferry port at St.Malo is about a 3hr drive.
