Full Description

A two-level, two-bedroom, 80 m2 independent villa built on a large, shared plot of 3763 m2 in the serene village of Kalamitsi Amigdali, near the beach resort of Georgioupolis, in a bargain of a price.

Built in 2007 and owned by the same family since this is a property that is very well and regularly maintained. On the ground floor an open plan living room and kitchen area with a fair share of natural light coming in from the double-glazed windows and doors, have access to an enclosed terrace, a genius conservatory that brings the outside in all year round.

The kitchen all airy and bright is fully equipped with fitted cabinets and all needed appliances. The living space is spacious and equally bright has direct access to both front and rear balconies. A guest WC and storage space makes the best of the space under the internal staircase that will lead you up on the first floor.

The first floor consists of two bedrooms and a bathroom. Both bedrooms have access to their private balconies with views that reach all the way to the White Mountains. The window and balcony door deliver excellent outdoor views and precious rays of natural light to the rooms.
The house has solar water heating and air-conditioning units, fly screens, and a pergola covering the front balcony. The shared plot has a garden and is surrounded by well-grown trees. The house has its own private parking space on the side.

Overall, the area is very green and quiet, a rural landscape dotted by the tiled pitched roofs of neighbouring villas.

Kalamitsi Amigdali is located at an altitude of 141 meters south of the hills of Vamos, between Kalamitsi Alexandrou and Exopoli. According to tradition, the village got its name from the almonds it produced in large quantities (pl. amygdala in Greek), and for this reason was named Amigdalou, which in time became Amigdali. Today the village is known for its narrow streets, an old fountain in the central square, and the church of Agios Pavlos, which was built in the early 19th century. The village is also home to a silk cooperative, known for the beautiful traditional silk woven fabrics made by local women. To the southeast of the village, one can find Vakles, a forested area crossed by a small creek.

Apokoronas is one of the greenest regions in Crete, one that still retains many of the elements that distinguish this island as a place of unique character and unspoiled nature. Most villages are nowadays filled with restored historic houses and new stone-built villas that follow the local aesthetics in a well-tuned harmony that cannot be found in the cities. Many foreigners choose this region for their holiday homes while many others choose to stay year after year when they visit Crete. Locals seeking a higher quality of life also opt for a house in Apokoronas instead of Chania or Rethymno. Being smack-dab in the middle between the two is an extra boon for anyone wanting to move to Western Crete.
