Full Description

A character country house, 150.6m2, on one single level, with level gardens, with a 1 bedroom garden annexe, in excellent condition and very close to the picturesque village of Almachar – 20 minutes from the coast. All paperwork up to date.

This delightful house has true personality! This is no ‘copy-paste’ standard ‘villa’, this is unique and beautiful, in the heart of the rural countryside of this agricultural area. Almachar, known for its vineyards, producing raisins on the traditional raisin-drying beds, or ‘paseros’, is a living, working village, full of life and activity and well serviced with bars, restaurants and shops, and all within a 15 minute walk of this property.

A very short dirt track leads off the road and down to the raisin drying beds belonging to the locals, with a gated entrance off the track into this property, known as Finca Pizarro Zapata. To the left of the driveway, on a higher level accessed via steps are three raisin drying beds belonging to this property, no longer used, along with an ancient open water reservoir (currently empty and unsued). This could easily be converted into a vegetable garden.

At the top of the drive, lined with flower beds, is a large parking area and front patio. To the side of the house is a spacious side patio area that could be used for covered parking, or made into a large terrace, should one require extra terracing.

The main house

The front door leads into a beautiful hall/dining room (5 x 4m) and one is instantly captivated by the unique feel and atmosphere of this lovely home. From the outside the house feels modern, but as one walks in the elegant but rustic feel and style of the house strikes one immediately, with beamed ceilings in some rooms and rustic style doors and windows in others. Indeed it is a perfect mixture of modern and rustic.

In the hallway, there is a direct line of sight from the rear opening, through the living room beyond and directly out into the garden and pool area, that draws the eye and invites the visitor to explore!

To the left of the hallway, an opening leads into a very spacious, quality, fully fitted kitchen/dining room (5 x 4.5m) with front and side window and a lovely corner fireplace with woodburner for cosy winter evenings in the kitchen!

To the right of the hallway is a door to the front bedroom, with large double sliding glass doors to the front of the house (4.5 x 3m). Beyond, is a door to a lovely bathroom with large, comfortable walk-in shower and glass separator. This bathroom (2.5 x 1.5m) also has an additional door leading to bedroom no.2 (5.5 x 2.6m) with a window to the side of the house and a ceiling fan. From this bedroom a door leads out into the long passage which traverses the centre of the house from East to West. This leads back into the hallway to the right, left into the living room, or, down to the far end, where we reach the third, rather elegant bathroom, (3.5 x 2m) with a raised bath in blue, and next door to bedroom 3 (5.5 x 3m) with double doors leading to the rear garden and a side window – a most delightful bedroom!

The living room is equally pleasing, as is each room in this beautiful property. About 7 x 4m, it is spacious, light and bright, with a corner woodburner (state of the art, with remote control) and brand new, top quality double doors out to the covered terrace and the rear garden.

The rear garden, pool and annexe

The rear garden consists of a completely flat piece of land in the form of mature gardens, with a covered terrace area against the house, a delightful easy maintenance, salt water pool (8 x 4m pool, rounded at the far end) which was recently regrouted, grassy (not real grass!) area to the rear and plenty of flowerbeds. To the rear the tantalising glimpse of the distance mountains draws the eye and reminds one of the stunning countryside surrounding this lovely area. Beyond the pool is the annexe, plus a useful storage room and a pool room. Arching bourganvillea and other flowering plants around the main door of the annexe almost make it invisible, with the door leading into a delightful bedroom (4 x 3m) with cane-covered ceiling, and a large window to the rear. Beyond, an opening leads through to a large bathroom with huge walk-in shower and a ‘portaloo’. The WC can be changed to a proper WC simply by connecting it up to the main septic tank which is nearby. This is ideal for guests and friends and family.

This is the perfect house for anyone looking for space, style, and proximity to a village, with the additional advantage of having both house and main garden all on one level.
