Full Description

13th CENTURY ITALIAN MILLHOUSE
Ancient Mill 238 sq.m with 2.7 hectares of land
SARNANO – HISTORIC MILL 238 SQ.M. WITH 2.7 HECTARES OF LAND
On the borders between the towns of Gualdo and Sarnano, Quattropareti offers for sale Ancient fortified Mill dating from 1250 comprising 3 floors of 238 sq.m. (official) with surrounding land of aprox 27,000 sq.m. [about 6 ¾ acres].
In the various studies of historical and architectural tests have information regarding the property since 1512 onwards only, at the time of the warfare between Sarnano and Fermo; to be clear, the building is situated on the right bank of the River Tennacola (in Gualdo), while the land on the left bank forms part of Sarnano.
The building, in local sandstone is in the form of a tower, with draw-bridges, [on 2 sides] with embrasures on all 4 sides.
In 1995/6 the residential floors were renovated, while the lower ground floor has remained in its original state with barrel vaults and equipment used until the 60s for grinding cereals: the old millstones are still there, worked by the underlying channel from the river.
In considering the floor area, the thickness of the walls is to be taken into account: on the lower ground floor they reach two metres.
The property requires certain a steps by way of restoration [the cost of which has been quantified and taken into account in the price] but is fully connected to all utility services, the centre of Gualdo is 3 km. distant and that of Sarnano 6 km.
Having regard to its historical importance this ancient Mill could be ideal for tourism (a holiday house) or as an historic residence to live.
• The pics that include furniture are extracted from Architectural Digest , photos of Giancarlo Gardin, that show the property when lived by DAVID LAWS.
