Casale Farfalla is a detached, stone farmhouse located in the hills of Anghiari. The medieval, hilltop town of Anghiari is located 429 m above sea level, in eastern Tuscany, close to the border with Umbria making it an ideal location from which to explore central Italy and beyond. The town is listed as one of the most beautiful hilltop towns in Italy and is where the famous Battle of Anghiari took place on 29th June 1440. The battle was later depicted by Leonardo da Vinci, probably on one of the main walls of the Hall of the 500, in Florences town hall, only to be painted over by another great maestro, Giorgio Vasari and to this day mystery still surrounds Leonardo's painting, which, for this reason, is also known as the “Lost Leonardo”.
Casale Farfalla has been renovated to a high standard, maintaining original beams, and enhancing the structure with the addition of a wooden staircase and open mezzanine over the living room.
