Full Description

Medieval Villa in Chianti Countryside

Dating back to 1705, this wonderful medieval villa immersed in the famous Chianti countryside was once a historic residence of a noble Tuscan family.

The existing property is actually built on the ruins of a medieval castle that dated all the way back to the year 1000 and was destroyed in 1150.

The villa is situated in a highly sought after area of Italy, known for its beauty and tranquility, where many high profile people visit and own property.

The property is home to one of the first Chianti cellars to be awarded the Chianti Classico price in 1924 in Paris.

Within easy reach of major services, such as the Florence airport.

Layout:

Upon entering the villa, a large French window offers a view of the opposite hill. The large entrance leads to 4 living rooms and a dining room, each with different fireplaces. The original tower from about the year 1000 remains intact in the dining room, which leads on to the kitchen.

The ground floor is characterised by many windows and French doors that overlook three large terraces with 360° views of the surrounding countryside. The ancient family chapel is also situated on the ground floor, still consecrated and complete with numerous objects and symbols of the past.

The large cellar that dates back to about the year 1000 can also be accessed from the ground floor via internal and external staircases.

The upper floor is accessed via two staircases, the main one giving life to the intact remains of the upper part of the tower of the medieval castle, which was destroyed in a battle between Florence and Siena for the defense of Florence in about 1200.

Upstairs there is the large and bright room which is now located where there was once the defense walls of the castle, from which hot oil or arrows were thrown at enemies, without being seen, and this floor also comprises 8 further bedrooms of different sizes - singles and doubles including a master suite with a walk-in wardrobe, a bedroom and bathroom with Jacuzzi, a shower and two sinks and another with 18th century frescoes and an 18th century terracotta fireplace, with a small bathroom and a large shower. A large glass door opens onto an encaustic painted bathroom.

Thanks to careful attention, the property is in impeccable condition. Original features including frescoed ceilings and 18th century floors have all been preserved beautifully and remain in excellent condition. All the rooms are fully furnished in a unique and distinguished way.

The villa is surrounded by wonderful nature, fantastic hills that leave room for horizons worthy of a cinematic film. The refined charm of the structure of the castle against the natural beauty that surrounds it would surely impress any guest or visitor.

This property would be a beautiful family home or a suitable location for top-level brand events, photoshoots, short films, feature films, events or special occasions.
