Full Description

With land of just under 2.5 acres and without any near neighbours, this very handsome 3-bedroom stone-built country cottage comes with a second detached stone cottage with 1 bedroom which is perfect for letting or for visiting friends and family. The property is 5 minutes' drive from the shops and and 80 minutes from the St Malo ferry.

The property is in a rural setting at the end of a lane, with no near neighbours. The accommodation, measuring 160m2 of habitable space, consists of, on the ground floor, kitchen and sitting room with wood-burning stove. On the first floor are 3 bedrooms, a study, and shower room with WC. The guest cottage would make an ideal gite and has a kitchen, a sitting room, a shower room with WC and a bedroom. The pleasant grounds measure approximately a hectare (2.5 acres).

The property is situated in the commune of Saint Mars sur la Futaie which is notable as the site of the oldest known tree in France, a hawthorn growing alongside the church, and reputedly planted in the 3rd Century. The nearest shops are 4kms away in the village of Montaudin. There are more at Fougerolles du Plessis. The nearest town is Gorron at a distance of 17kms.

Gorron is a peaceful and pretty little market town that lies in the unspoiled and traditional Mayenne department. Technically, according to modern boundaries, the town is situated within the Pays de la Loire region, but in many respects Gorron considers itself Norman, and certainly the atmosphere and character of the town is typical of Normandy.

Gorron is a pretty town with a very traditional air. The stone cottages that make up most of Gorron are attractive, and, in summer, bedecked with spectacular arrays of flowers, so that all around there is a glorious blaze of colour. Gorron is made even prettier by the River Colmont and the lake that is formed from this, which makes a very picturesque addition to the town and adds to the feeling of being in a peaceful natural environment.
