Full Description

Authentic Tuscan farmhouse with swimming pool, recently restored to provide three independent units, which can be retained, or the whole could be fairly easily re-configured to provide a spacious family home. Set just outside the medieval village of Vicopisano, steeped in history, and so conveniently located less than 20 kms from Pisa in the heart of Tuscany.

Hidden in the green hills and surrounded by woodland, the farmhouse sits comfortably in the land, and can be easily reached on a good road, just 15 mins from the village of Vicopisano. The last part of the road is unpaved but in good condition. The house is divided into three parts, each offset from the other to offer a great deal of privacy and independence. On the ground floor is the largest property of 150 sqm which has an entrance hall with fireplace, kitchen/ dining room, large walk-in storage cupboard. There are two double bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom and a family bathroom. Upstairs is a smaller property of 80 sqm which also has two double bedrooms, bathroom and a living area which is accessed by a private external staircase. The third part is also on the ground floor, offset from the other property, with a large living room/ kitchen dominated by a Tuscan brick arch and a double bedroom with bathroom, all of which is currently used as a lovely area of relaxation adjacent to the swimming pool.

Beautiful covered loggia and paved patio area by the safe, fenced swimming pool, perfect for outside dining. The land extends to around 9,000 sqm (just over 2 acres).

Easy car access, plenty of parking and a garage.

Vicopisano has a warm atmosphere, is steeped in history and is one of the prettiest of the famous Tuscan villages. There are a number of coffee bars, some great restaurants and, famously, twelve medieval towers. Wandering through the narrow streets is like stepping back to the Middle Ages. The village is set between the River Arno and Mount Pisano and the history tells the story of Florentine domination. The fortress of Brunelleschi, the famous Florentine architect, the walkway del Soccorso, the old walls and abundance of towers form the very heart of the village.

Vicopisano celebrates many festivals throughout the year. The Medieval Festival which takes place on the first weekend of September is a highlight and during this weekend Vicopisano is full of medieval jousting, musicians and street theatre. In the lanes and alleys you will meet characters from ancient times, you have the opportunity to taste the spiced wine, browse among the stalls and dine among the different taverns or even at the Praetorian Palace on the occasion of the Medieval Dinner, which is served on the top of the hill.
