Ancient Farmhouse with Annex and Caves near Sarteano

Originally an old mill, this beautiful farmhouse is located near the interesting medieval town of Sarteano. The town is in the south of the Siena province, between the Val d'Orcia and the Val di Chiana, just 7km from the Chiusi-Chianciano exit of the Autostrada del Sole (A1).

The old town is bordered by ancient walls, with three arched entrances which, through narrow alleys, lead to the castle at the top of the town. Given the historical importance of the town, there are museums, ancient Etruscan tombs, and important events such as the civitas infernalis not to be missed. Another important and famous event is the Giostra del Saracino, a competition between districts, where five riders challenge each other with a rod and a ring, whoever takes the most rings wins.

Sarteano is in a very strategic position from which the most famous villages of the Val d'Orcia are easily reachable. These include Pienza, San Quirico, Montalcino, Montepulciano and the thermal baths surrounding Mount Amiata, San Casciano dei Bagni, Bagni San Filippo and Bagno Vignoni. In an hour and a half you can also reach Rome, Florence and their respective airports.
