Full Description

An original cortijo hidden quietly away in the hills – a perfect new lifestyle in the making! Be alone, and unbothered by anyone else, and yet only a few minutes’ drive from a lovely hamlet with a good social life at the Bar Molino (and Bar Table Mountain when it reopens).

Location

If you are looking for an original property, full of character, and hidden away in a reasonably isolated, and very private location, this may be one to consider. It is located along a very reasonable dirt track (no need for a 4×4) of around 4Kms and around 10 minutes from the very lovely little mountain hamlet of Los Ventorros which has one very good bar/restaurant (and a great place to meet everyone living locally). Comares village, which has several shops, chemist, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and health centre, plus sports facilities, is a 15 minute drive.

The nearest coastal towns are Torre del Mar (45 mins) and Malaga (55 minutes) and other towns are within that timescale.

This area of the Montes de malaga is all about nature, peace, and tranquility. There are other old cortijos around, most of them restored and well loved, but this house has total privacy and stunning views.

The Plot

A private, concrete driveway off the dirt track winds its way down the house, and the majority of the land lies below, with a track that makes it possible to reach the very bottom of the track and the original spring water source. Water is also easily brought in, as is typical here, by truck (not expensive, at around 100€ for a lorry-load). The land is laid mainly to almonds and olives, but there are also many fruit trees in the orchard at the very bottom of the plot, alongside a pretty stream which in the Springtime is a delightful place to be, filled with wild flowers, orchids, and birds, including nightingales.

Just below the house itself, and down some steps, set within simple, but beautiful gardens, is a stone surround pool (27m2) with steps into the water. This is an idyllic spot, with wonderful views, where even the most tormented souls must find total peace!

The Cortijo

This is no ordinary house! It is a beautiful original Andusian Cortijo with a ‘capital C’! A flagstone floor patio leads to the front door (wooden, double doors, of course), leading into a large dining room with high ceilings and beams (5.5 x 4m). To the right, 3 steps lead up to the living room, (4 x 3m) with built-in sitting area and steps leading back down to the farmhouse-style kitchen (5 x 4m), with plenty of windows through which the afternoon sun filters, casting beautiful light within. A fascinating, narrow ‘cut’ in the wall joins the kitchen and the dining room at the lower level. To the left of the living room area is access to the family bathroom (2 x 1.5m).

From the dining, room, to the left, a couple of steps lead down to a room that can be used as a second living room or a very large guest bedroom (8 x 4m). It would be easy to add an ensuite bathroom to the far end of this lovely room. Double doors from here lead out to the delightful terrace, overlooking the views and pool.

Also from the dining room, a short corridor leads to bedroom 2 (4 x 3.5m), and bedroom 3 (3.5 x 3.5m) with ensuite bathroom (2 x 1.5m).

Thoughout the house there are facinating features, such a pieces of the natural rock on which the house was built, beams, rustic floors, interesting windows and double wooden doors,a true delight to anyone who love the Spanish rustic style, and yet comfortable for modern living.

There is a useful store room (3 x 2m) to the side of the house, by the terrace.
