Villa Santa Maria is famous throughout the world for its School of Chefs and ‘The Home-Town of Cooks’ dating back to 1560. Villa Santa Maria rises against the southern slope of the Monte Vecchio, on the left of the Sangro river. The territory is 16 sq Km wide, in a mountainous area among woods, pastures and fields. The town has ancient traditions and origins that are rooted in the Roman and Italian world. There are some archaeological evidences. Villa Santa Maria is therefore also a place to explore to discover its artistic and architectural beauties. It can be reached by means of a convenient highway, with exit to the village, which connects the A14 Adriatic motorway with Castel di Sangro. The Palace, built in the sixteenth century and recently restored, was the first nucleus of the city.
