Vila da Fonte has a large roof terrace with lovely mountain views and another pretty little terrace which is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and a book. There is a large tiled area around the pool for sun loungers and poolside dining, there is also an outdoor shower. The former mule shed is now a lovely restored stone building where we store the outdoor furniture and pool accessories. Just behind the pool is the lawn with another stone building for storing logs. Steps lead down from the pool to a gated parking area for two cars, access to this is via a cobbled road. There is also parking for two cars at the front of the house. Vila da Fonte has many established fruit trees (figs, plums, apples, pears, oranges, clementines, quince, physallis and grape vines). There is also a terrace where we grow vegetables and 8 olive trees from which we get our yearly supply of olive oil. A natural fonte runs through the garden, hence the name! This used to supply mountain water to the villagers prior to mains water being available, it now provides a free source of water for the garden. The sound of trickling water is very relaxing and it is lovely to see the variety of frogs and news it attracts. Vila da Fonte is a special place in a beautiful and peaceful location, yet only minutes from the pretty town of Castanheira de Pera which has all essential amenities (banks, supermarkets, health centre, schools, vet, restaurants and cafes).
