Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure has many historical buildings, but is mainly known in recent years for its 'Memorial de la Resistance' which was erected on 2 acres of land given by PASCAUD family who played a great part in the resistance, Guy PASCAUD being one of the 3 men instrumental in creating 'Le maquis Bir Hacheim' in 1943
