The village is located in an ecologically clean area, 10 km from the town of Shumen and 100 km from Varna airport and the beach. There are about 1700 inhabitants in the village; 2 schools, health center, shops, restaurants, gas station. The village is situated at the foot of the mountain massif, which is a continuation of the Madara rocks. 

Along the village runs the ecologically clean River Big Kamchia.

The village is connected to the ancient history – there are about 150 Thracian mounds, two of them are close to the village and they are exposed in their natural environment. It is open for visits by tourists. There were 42 gold items and other objects found in them, dating from the 4th century BC and a Thracian ruler. There are numerous archaeological and historical sites in the area, such as the First and Second Bulgarian capitals – the towns of Pliska and Preslav; Madara Horseman, which is under UNESCO protection; Shumen Fortress and others.
