A traditional whitewashed mountain village, Mojacar is situated in the south east of the Province of Almeria some 152 metres above mean sea level (37°08'?N 1°51'?W). It covers an area of approximately 72 km2 and stretches down to the Mediterranean Sea where the tourist resort know as Mojacar Playa is situated/beach.  Mojacar boasts over 3,000 hours of sun per year. According to a rather curious legend, Walt Disney was said to have been born in Mojacar in 1905 and given the name of José Guirao Zamora.
