The architect designed this contemporary house so that it would benefit to the full from the magnificent view of Monclus, one of France's prettiest villages. It is built up on the hill, in 3.5 acres of "garrique", and looks down across the valley, to the village. The house has clean lines, and is well designed. It is fully insulated, and has full double glazing...it has an excellent energy rating.
There is a high quality design kitchen, fully equipped, a spacious sitting room (53m2), with a wood burning stove for those cosy evenings. For summer eating, with the view, there is a large conservatory, which can be used summer and winter. There are two separate en suite bedrooms, on the ground floor, which independent access, which could be let out as B and B, or used as guest accommodation. Upstairs there are two further bedrooms, and a bathroom, and a room which is currently used for laundry, but which could be used as an extra bedroom.
Around the house there are lots of places to eat, sunbathe, garden. By the swimming pool there is a little chalet, which serves as a summer kitchen, and could even provide extra sleeping room. The pool is well placed, again with views, and is next to the full size tennis court.
The pretty village of Goudargues is famously known as the "Venice of the Gard region". Here there are lots of small shops, a lively weekly market, and lots of interesting restaurants and cafés. For more serious shopping there is the town of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, 10 miles away, with large supermarkets, a hospital, and very large weekly market.
The village is in the north of the Gard region, in the Cèze valley, not far from the Cèze gorges, and just south of the Ardèche gorges. This is a big tourist region, with caves to visit, medieval villages, roman towns and ruins, and wine tasting with the famous Rhone Valley wines, and delicious local specialities to taste.
