Full Description

Entrance to the house is through a porch and two large oak doors into a living room which reveals a large double-height space with oak beams and an old fireplace. Two double doors open onto the west terrace and three 5 metre sliding glass doors lead onto the north terrace and outside dining area.

On the ground floor is the master bedroom with fitted cupboards and connecting doors to the 2nd bedroom and there is further 3rd bedroom. All are doubles with en-suite bathroom. There is a separate exit from each room through French windows to a secluded terrace.

The cream painted kitchen with views into the olive groves is fitted with handmade units and high quality electrical equipment.

Overlooking the living room is a large mezzanine, currently used as a TV room and through double doors is an office/library and music centre.

The large utility room was originally a small stable for the horse, which turned the mill wheel and now houses airing cupboards and a double sink. There is also a cloakroom with WC and basin.

The house has underfloor heating which with the air-conditioning makes it suited to year-round living. It is also wired throughout for telephone and internet access as well as wifi.

The large land plot has olive, orange, lemon, fig and other trees as well as numerous plants and a kitchen garden. The terrace is large and on two sides of the house with a private 11m infinity pool overlooked by a pergola. A stone wall with arched entrance-way preserves the privacy of this area from the approach to the house.

On the terrace is an open-sided, covered 40 sqm dining area with views of the sea and sunset. The swimming pool features an original sculpture by the present owner of the property, and the garden is photographed in the recently published coffee table book "Gardens of Corfu" by Rachel Weaving and Marianne Majerus. The water supply to the pool is filtered and oxygenated which means the water is free of chlorine.

Below and largely hidden from the main property is a newly built guest house, which includes a kitchen and shower room and is currently used as a creative studio. The house has a large roof terrace with sea and mountain views, space for its own swimming pool and could be converted very easily to a two bedroom cottage.

Although wonderfully peaceful, a 5 minute drive takes you down to the beaches of the north coast and the nearest village with shops, banks and supermarkets. Kassiopi is a 15 minute drive and Corfu Town is 40 minutes.

A potted history of the property from the vendors:

Originally built as a house by a family of Venetian origin who gave the name Rousselatika to the local area, the building was converted into an olive press in the 19th century. It was later restored, combining its authentic feel with beautiful simplicity. The old oak doors, huge Cypress beams supporting a low-sloping roof and traditional Byzantine tiles combine tastefully with the discrete modernity of air-conditioning, painted oak kitchen, spacious bedrooms with internet access and luxurious bathrooms. The grey Kavalla flagstones of the terrace blend with the natural stone the walls and lead to a spectacular infinity pool into which cascades a calming water feature displaying a striking sculpture by the owner. A verandah, small pergola by the pool, barbecue and large covered dining area complete the picture.
