The house is not connected either to mains water or electricity, but does have a large well from which water is pumped into a deposit which feeds the house by gravity; the house has very good sun exposure so apt for solar power installation.
The property is within walking distance of a quaint village around 7,6 km or a 10 minute drive from the town of Proença-a-Nova.
The door of the house leads right into the kitchen / living room, from which we have a door to the bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and original hand wash basin. On the side of the kitchen / living room we have stone steps leading to the spacious bedroom with built in closet and large window with wonderful views into the landscape.
Next to the house, we have steps leading up to the pretty stone annex to the rear of the house. The plot climbs up the slope of the hill. There was a forest fire on the neighboring, and now we have a large number of small olive and cork oak trees and a lot of wild herbs and flowers growing in abundance on our property.
To the front of the house there is a path which rarely takes any traffic since it only leads into the woods. On the other side of the path there is a large flat meadow through which runs a winter stream, where the well is situated. A perfect space to have your vegetable patch, with a number of mature olive trees, some mature fruit trees and cork oaks. This part of the property includes a bit of mixed forest sloping up the hill. There is an access on a forest path which borders this part of the plot.
The location of this property is very private, no passers-by, the nearest neighbor is a goat farm a couple of hundred meters distance.
The large village of Proença-a-Nova, with a friendly council and all necessary amenities, is a 10 minute drive away. There a number of refreshing and well maintained and equipped river beaches in the area.
Sertã is 14 km away. Sertã is an attractive historic town built on either side of a stunning river setting. It has many restaurants and bars as well as 3 major supermarkets, banks, schools, library, theater, cultural center, municipal swimming pool and river beach. There are also 2 weekly markets, held every Friday, one selling fruit, vegetables and livestock and the other selling clothes, tools, plants, shoes etc.
The district capital of Castelo Branco is a mere 40 minute, or 56 km drive away
The historic university city of Coimbra is an hour´s drive away from the property. Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO site Convento do Cristo, is also an hour away.
Lisbon airport is 180 km away, travelling on the IC8 and toll roads. Porto airport is 208 km from the property, also on speed ways.
