Full Description

Restored detached house (135 sqm) with two panoramic terraces and garden of 415 sqm set in an extraordinary setting in the greenery of the hills with amazing panoramic views over the valley. The property consists of living room with fireplace, equipped kitchen, double bedroom, bathroom, large terrace of 42 sqm and cellar on ground floor; bedroom and terrace on first floor accessible through an elevator. Jacuzzi in the garden.Aulla stretches along a flat area, from the valley floor where the river Magra cross the Aulella torrent. The northern part is delimited by the Taverone torrent. It stands in a strategic position between the Cisa, Cerreto and Lagastrello passes and on the way to Casola and Garfagnana.                                                                                                 During the bombing of the Second World War, the ancient village was almost completely destroyed. The village of Aulla was founded around 884, when the Abbey of San Caprasio was founded. Toward the end of the XIII century the territory was transferred under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Luni, to be then disputed by the Pisans, the Lucchese, the Genoese and the Malaspina. Characteristic of the town is the Brunella Fortress, a sixteenth-century military building with a quadrangular structure, placed in a strategic position overlooking the valley. The Fortress was probably built by Giovanni delle Bande Nere around the first half of the 16th century. Today it houses the Natural History Museum of Lunigiana. Palazzo del Centurione, renovated by the Malaspina family in the 13th century, preserves the remains of the entrance door to the city.Just outside Aulla, you can admire Caprigliola with its Medicean walls, Bibola and Bigliolo with the rests of their castles, Albiano with its medieval houses, Olivola in a dominant position and the medieval village of Pallerone which houses an evocative mechanical nativity scene - one of the oldest in Italy, a few steps from which you can also visit a small museum, where you can admire the pieces of the ancient versions of the sacred representation, including the engine that animated it in 1937 and a photo gallery showing the ancient specimens. The municipal territory is particularly suitable for trekking lovers who follow the route of the Via Francigena.
