This lovely spacious four bedroomed stone house, with outbuildings, courtyard, garden and swimming pool, is set on the road leading into Tornac village. It is just five minutes by car from the town of Anduze, a very pretty old market town with primary and secondary schools, very popular weekly market and flea market, and with lots of very popular cafés and restaurants. It is in the foothills of the Cévennes, near the famous Bambooseraie and steam train. Alès, a large town with cinémas, theatre, supermarkets and all types of shops is just 15 minutes away by car. There is even a "beach" here in the summer! And the house is just an hour away from Nimes airport.
This is a big wine growing area. In this region swimming is popular in isolated and magical surrounding rivers, and other outdoor activities include horse-riding, kayaking, cycling and mountain climbing. There are many fascinating cities to visit, including Nîmes, Avignon, Anduze, Alès, Uzès, Montpellier and Marseille, and the Mediterranean coast is also close at Grau-du-Roi, Sainte Marie de la Mer and the Camargue.
There is so much to see and do here - stunning walks, canoeing, many famous caves including the Caverne Pont d'Arc, with its cave paintings, recently opened to the public. The Ardèche Gorges are not far, and the Pont du Gard is relatively close by, and are not to be missed. You can swim in the rivers, go to water parks, visit lovely old walled towns, have a coffee in the sunshine or go wine tasting at one of the many vineyards. There are many charming weekly markets selling fresh local produce, including the regionally famous market on Saturday in Uzès.
