Stretching from beautiful Axarquía in the east to sunny Manilva in the west, the Costa del Sol is a wonderfully varied coastline with bustling cities, popular cities and small neighbourhoods that each have their own charm. It’s this mix that really sets it apart from Spain’s other Costas.
The city of Málaga has seen a huge jump in popularity with international visitors, and at the heart of the Costa del Sol are its classic seaside towns that first became popular back in the 1960s. Places like Fuengirola, Marbella and Torremolinos are still favourites today, partly thanks to their quick and easy access from Málaga Airport. Just a little inland, you’ll find ever-popular areas such as Benahavís and Mijas, which offer a blend of comfort, culture and great views.
If you venture further into the mountains, the Costa reveals another side of itself: peaceful whitewashed villages like Ojén, Coín and Cómpeta. These spots offer a slower pace of life and a taste of traditional Andalusian living - perfect for anyone who wants to escape the busy coast without going too far.
