Overseas property investors looking for a Portuguese property with a difference are being urged to consider the lesser known Western Algarve, which offers a fantastic lifestyle and an abundance of discounted property.

The news follows a report from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors which states that the rental yields of Portuguese property have "continue to benefit from the fallout in sales". Unable to secure mortgage funding many Portuguese citizens have been driven towards the rental market, with landlords able to profit at both ends of the transaction – picking up cheap property and renting it for a decent return.
