British Airways names its top holiday destinations for August 2011

British Airways has revealed its top holiday destinations for August 2011.

Increased flight numbers and great deals on package holidays have meant that the numbers of travelers are extremely healthy, despite the recession.

The most popular worldwide destinations booked in August include New York, Orlando, Barbados, Rome, Barcelona, Mauritius, Las Vegas, St Lucia and Venice, welcome news for people looking to rent their properties to holidaymakers in these areas.

Families are being driven to The Caribbean, especially Barbados and St Lucia thanks to increasing numbers of flights to these areas. A new weekly flight to Tampa has also been launched recently, increasing the numbers of holidaymakers flocking to Florida.

European destinations also saw a spike in interest, with the effects of the recession meaning that holiday makers are taking shorter weekend breaks in favour of longer holidays. However, the high end of the market was not suffering either. Mauritius in particular is proving popular with luxury sun hunters.

Claire Bentley, managing director of British Airways Holidays, said: "Yet again the Great British summer has proved a complete wash out so we are seeing a heavy demand from our UK customers for last minute overseas holidays.”

Research at our last APITS Live exhibition revealed high numbers of interest in properties in Italy, both in the holiday rental market and in terms of home ownership. At our next exhibition we've got a dedicated Italian pavilion where you can have your questions answered, attend seminars and meet property experts who know everything there is to know about Italian property. Make sure you don't miss the pavilion at the NEC Birmingham show.
