Sevilla is a province in the western part of the autonomous community in Andalucia, southern Spain. The capital city of Sevilla (and Andalucia as a whole) is also called Sevilla. Thought of as being ‘quintessentially Andalucian’, the relaxing atmosphere and steady pace of life - "No pasa nada" (Don´t worry, take it easy) being a popular phrase – makes the area appealing to British buyers.
The city lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, which means 'The Great Valley' in Arabic. The city is home to several beautiful churches, monuments and the third largest Christian church in the world. Climb to the top of La Giralda tower in the northeastern corner of the cathedral and experience breathtaking views of the city.
Across the square from the cathedral is the Alcázar Palace, which was the home of Spanish kings for nearly seven centuries. A labyrinth of narrow, winding streets infused with the scent from the Sevilla’s orange blossom, it is a pleasure to lose oneself in this historic city.
Natural treasures include the Doñana Nature Reserve and the Sierra Norte Nature Reserve, ideal for practising outdoor sports, including hiking, horse riding, and cycling routes.
There are also four golf courses in the vicinity. Seville Airport offers good connections to the province and flights from the UK take around two hours and 30 minutes.
Where to Buy Property in Sevilla
Heading east from Sevilla into the countryside, there are several delightful towns. The towns of Puebla de Cazalla, Marchena, Arahal and Moron de Frontera offer good value for money, while Seville City is naturally more expensive.
