Gérard Depardieu’s Parisian home on sale

Angry at President Francois Hollande's proposed 75 per cent tax on France's super rich, Gérard Depardieu has made a move across to Belgium and has put his Parisian townhouse up for sale for €50 million.

The estate, situated in the city's fashionable Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, compromises two buildings - one a 19th century townhouse which it is rumoured that Depardieu had planned to eventually convert into a hotel, and the other a loft style apartment with gleaming marble floors and an indoor pool. Both buildings, which have 10 bedrooms between them, sit around some large and well kept gardens.

The actor's decision to abandon his native France has been met with widespread criticism by the country's media and government, with French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Aryault calling Depardieu's actions "quite shabby... all that just to avoid paying tax."
