Donald Trump sells mansion

Donald Trump has sold his property at the Los Angeles Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes for a reported $7.5 million.

The five-bedroom, nine-bathroom home was first put on the market in early 2010 but failed to attract any bidders with its $12 million price tag.

It is thought to have been snapped up by a shipping director who will now benefit from Trump's impressive luxury touches including a full-size bar, marble floors, infinity swimming pool, games room and floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar. The palatial home is designed in a U-shape so that every window has a panoramic view of either the Pacific Ocean or the club's golf course.

The controversial real estate mogul bought the three-acre site on which the property and golf club sits back in 2002 for $27 million. Since then it has been substantially remodeled and has become an exclusive and desirable place to live.

This is despite protests from the local community who have baulked at Trump's suggestion that a local highway should be renamed Trump National Drive. Trump has also filed $100 million lawsuit against the town council who have refused him permission to build an extra 20 homes on the course because of landslide fears.
