New budget flights boost for Alicante property market

Budget airline Jet2.com has new flights from Belfast International Airport to Alicante in Spain, offering a timely boost for the Alicante property market.

Costa Blanca has long proved popular with holidaymakers and holiday home buyers from Northern Ireland. The new flights, which start from £39.99 including taxes, will operate every Monday during the height of the summer season, between 27th June and 29th August 2011.

The no-frills airline already flies from Belfast to Murcia and so the additional Belfast to Alicante route will further expand Jet2.com's presence in Spain, and potentially increase the number of people seeking to buy a home in Alicante.

The new flights are also good news for existing Alicante property owners, as many holidaymakers will require rental accommodation.

Ignacio Osle, Sales and Marketing Director of Taylor Wimpey de España, says: "Other than Alicante itself where we offer a number of select and boutique developments to second home buyers, nearby Calpe is a popular choice offering owners stunning Mediterranean beaches, excellent golf resorts and year round sunshine. Travelling north beyond the crowded beaches of Benidorm, Calpe is only 45 minutes drive from Alicante Airport and so a easy commute for owners.

"The new flights from Jet2.com will make a real difference to existing owners and those seeking to purchase in Spain. Many will be using the properties themselves for their own summer holidays but owners can also cash in on the peak summer demand for accommodation by letting out their property to holiday makers. The increased availability of flights is certainly a positive development for everyone."
