Come and discover one of the most emblematic estates in Portugal's Central Region, Quinta da Gramela. Located on the outskirts of the city of Pombal, this landmark of the region recently operated as an events venue and stands out in several respects, particularly because it was the residence of the Marquis of Pombal during the first half of the 18th century, before he began his political and diplomatic career. At the time, he managed the land, developing its agricultural potential, while also turning Quinta da Gramela into his rural retreat.
On this 187-hectare estate, which includes the main residential house, with a gross construction area of 1,872 m² and a private area of 616 m², the Royal Hat Factory operated from 1759 onwards, on the initiative of the Marquis of Pombal. The project, designed by Carlos Mardel, corresponds to the current dimensions of the manor house, as do the adjacent buildings, such as the old olive oil presses and wine cellars, as well as the chapel itself, all of which display characteristics typical of one of Portugal's most renowned architects of the 18th century.
In addition to Quinta da Gramela's evident tourism potential, which, according to the local municipality's Municipal Master Plan (PDM), is located in an area designated for special use for tourism and industrial activities, this property has its own sources of income, such as a photovoltaic power plant generating a gross return of approximately €80,000.00 per year, occupying 42 hectares of the estate.
Across the 187 hectares, you will find unparalleled natural beauty, including two lagoons with their own dams, extensive walking trails and other areas suitable for tourism, leisure or wellness activities.
