Full Description

A Unique Place: 800 years of history, a heritage to be reinvented
Nestled in the heart of the bocage landscapes of northern Mayenne, this castle is a treasure trove of medieval and Renaissance architecture, a vibrant witness to eight centuries of French history. From its foundation in the thirteenth century to its metamorphosis in the twenty-first century, this stately home has seen knights, marquises and local legends come and go. With its moat, ramparts and majestic remains, it offers a unique setting for a life, hospitality or exceptional project.
Once a fortress, the castle was successively a military bastion, a noble residence, then a place of silence and mystery, before regaining its soul today thanks to a passionate restoration. More than a property, it's a living page of history that you hold in your hands, ready to welcome a new chapter.
Legend has it that a carved dog's head indicates the location of a barrel of gold that was never found.
Only the remarkable remains of the medieval castle burned down during the revolution and two large buildings from the sixteenth century remain. Face to face, perfectly symmetrical without being identical, sober and elegant, leaning against the old ramparts, surrounded by moats, they draw a French garden in their centre.
Almost completely restored, these two buildings are today, for the first, a house of about 250 m2 with on the ground floor, two living rooms with fireplaces, further on a large bedroom with fireplace, a private shower room and toilet. On the opposite side is an original fitted kitchen, toilets, a boiler room. Upstairs, accessible by a stone staircase, are three bedrooms, each with a shower room and toilet, and a fourth bedroom, very large, with a bathroom and toilet. Finally, a small wooden staircase leads to a double attic above the kitchen and boiler room.
The other building of about 230 m2 is a huge reception room with its outbuildings: location of a professional kitchen (now removed) and amenities for guests. An attic is accessible by a ladder.
Meadows, orchards, gardens, paths with a total capacity of about 2.56 hectares.
A magical place for ambitious projects, for lovers of heritage, history and nature, a source of inspiration for artists, an exceptional setting for the organisation of events or a magnificent setting for film shoots.
