Full Description

A typical 19th-century Tuscan manor house set amidst a sprawling rose garden and surrounded by farmland featuring vineyards and olive groves, situated in a gently rolling landscape on the edge of the Chianti region.

The villa (19th century), which has been inhabited by the same family for five generations, has retained its historic charm and the authentic atmosphere of a stately residence. Numerous rooms feature frescoed ceilings or elegant wooden coffered ceilings, which have been restored to their original condition through careful restoration work.

One enters the villa through the main portal and finds oneself in a spacious entrance hall.
On the right is a stately living room with frescoed coffered ceilings, and on the left is a bright tea room. A passageway leads to a library, a storage room and an internal staircase leading to the upper floor. From here, one also reaches a small living room with a kitchen, which is connected to the rear of the villa via a habitable outdoor loggia, as well as the area where the roses were studied and catalogued. This area consists of an office with a French door leading to the rear garden of the house, a pantry, three rooms that were used as an office and archive, and a bathroom.

An internal staircase leads to the upper floor, where a large, perfectly preserved 19th-century drawing room opens out onto a terrace overlooking the rose garden. This floor features four bedrooms decorated with frescoes.
To the left of the main salon, a corridor leads to a suite comprising three further bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with a terrace, and access to the attic with its completely renovated roof.

The park is home to a significant botanical rose collection featuring wild roses, old and modern varieties, considered one of the most important in Europe and often described as a ‘living rose museum’, as well as ancient, tall trees such as oaks, holm oaks, lime trees, horse chestnuts and a rare specimen of Sophora.

The approximately 6-hectare property also includes a productive vineyard (Chianti DOCG Colli Aretini) and an olive grove with around 600 olive trees for the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil. There are also four old railway carriages here, which were once installed for educational purposes for visitors to the rose garden.

The property is situated just a few minutes from Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of one of Tuscany’s most renowned wine and tourism regions, with tourist facilities in the vicinity, including a golf course and a small airport for private aircraft.
