Full Description
Located less than 40 minutes (40km) from Lamezia Terme Airport and Lamezia Centrale train station in the Comune of San Floro is this great property that requires renovation. It is also just 20 minutes’ to the Ionian coast and beach locations such as Catanzaro Lido with Soverato Marina, Lido di Squillace, and more only a few km further along the coast so ideally situated for those who like the traditional Italian village life but close to the coast to enjoy some beach days!
The original part of this property dates back to 1800 with a newer part added in the 1960’s. It is on 3 levels which totals approx. 500sqm. The lower ground level has part that could be used as an independent apartment and part used for storage.
The main entrance is on the ground level and comprises 18 rooms which can be reconfigured within a renovation. The building has recently had a new roof with exposed ceiling beams in most of the rooms.
The entire property has a large garden of approximately 400sqm, full of lush fruit trees, mandarins and lemons
While requiring renovation the main structure of the building is good.
Within a short drive is the city of Catanzaro known as the "City between two seas" because it is located on the isthmus separating the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. Perched on a panoramic hill Catanzaro's centre is reached by a historic bridge, the iconic Ponte Bisantis, a futuristic work by engineer Riccardo Morandi. The main thoroughfare of the city Corso Mazzini is lined with shops, bars, and monuments.
The city's marina, Catanzaro Lido approx. 18km, is the capital's Blue Flag seaside resort, offering family-friendly lidos, a public beach, a marina, a promenade, and numerous clubs that liven up the nightlife all year round.
The property is conveniently positioned to access the A3 autostrada from where it is possible to explore the many traditional hilltop villages and La Sila National Park, which is approx. 1 ½ hr drive away and boasts some of the most spectacular and dramatic scenery offered in the area coupled with year-round activities such as walking, pony trekking, quad bikes and skiing in the winter.
Further to the south are the beautiful resorts of Pizzo, famous for its sphere shaped, hazelnut and chocolate ice cream “Tartufo di Pizzo,” and Tropea for its beautiful beaches and the iconic Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’ Isola, a ancient monastery set on a rocky outcrop in the sea.
Other places of interest include the museum housing The Bronzes of Riace at Reggio Calabria.
We have the necessary contacts to assist with the completion of this project.
