Full Description

Lloyd and Davis presents a rare estate, around an emblematic castle of Lower Navarre, listed in the register of historical monuments in 1996 and whose origins date back to the fourteenth century.
Surrounded by a church, a fourteenth century dovecote, old stables, outbuildings on about 350m², this set in a neat park is a delight for the eyes. It was also one of the popular holiday resorts of a distinguished guest, Odilon Redon.
The property, crossed by a river, surrounded by green hills is a real bucolic haven of peace on nearly 3 hectares.
Redwoods, magnolias, cedars and century-old palm trees make up a magnificent landscape. The charming details of the countryside, low walls and small stone bridges, ironwork embellish this place steeped in history.
You will also appreciate its location, a few kilometres from a very lively town in the inland Basque country, on the Camino de Santiago, 50 minutes from the coast, Biarritz and Pau airports and less than two hours from the ski slopes.

The castle developed around a seigniorial fortified house. This was followed by extensions and enhancements in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, giving it a proud appearance. The interior was redesigned in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The renovation undertaken in 2008 has restored the estate to its splendour.
Many original features, bringing a lot of character, mullioned windows, woodwork, parquet floors, fireplaces, moldings have been preserved.

On the three main levels of about 800m², not counting a beautiful vaulted cellar and two attics, the castle offers 23 rooms of beautiful volumes.
On the ground floor: an entrance hall, 3 large reception rooms with 4m high ceilings, a large fitted kitchen, an office, a bedroom with shower room.
The other 10 spacious rooms, spread over two main floors, one of which is a suite with bathroom, are served by a majestic central French staircase.
The second floor remains partly to be renovated.
The third floor is occupied by two attics illuminated by the dormers of the mansard roof.
All the roofs of the buildings are in perfect condition and the ship's hull framework of the church, reconstituted identically, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship.
There are also other outbuildings, caretaker's house, small apartment, carport, etc.

Lovers of history, authenticity and the countryside will fall under the spell of the beauty of the place.
Exceptional potential for a commercial activity or large family accommodation capacity.
The 2025 Historic Monuments law allows many advantages, whether in terms of tax exemption or subsidies for renovation or improvement. You will enjoy an exceptional residence, with timeless charm, noble materials while contributing to the conservation of the heritage.
