Carlazzo is a municipality in the Province of Como, from which it is 44 km away, which extends for 13 km², between 276 and 1,510 meters above sea level. The territory, surrounded by greenery on the south-western slopes of Monte Pidaggia, is crossed by the Cuccio and Rezzo rivers, both tributaries of the nearby Lake Ceresio (or Lake Lugano). It is made up of four hamlets: San Pietro Sovera and Piano Porlezza located in the “lower” part of the municipality, and the hamlets of Carlazzo and Gottro located in the “upper” part.

Carlazzo was for centuries a municipality in the province of Milan, inserted for the first time in the province of Como in 1786 on a provisional basis, and definitively in 1801. The first municipal council was elected in 1821.

The hamlet of San Pietro Sovera was aggregated to the Municipality with its own individuality given to it by its separate parish.

The Municipality changed its name to Carlazzo Valsolda in 1861 and returned to its original name in 1928, with royal decree n. 827, when it annexed Gottro and Piano Porlezza, proposing a similar provision already issued at the time of Napoleon, then canceled by the Austrians.
The real estate market in Carlazzo is excellent and buying a house is a safe investment.
