Svirce village is a vibrant inland community that has approximately 500 inhabitants and growing. Within the village, there is a small grocery store as well as a cafe bar and a popular pizza restaurant. The village is most famous for its variety of wine, as well as its quality of olive oil which has spread internationally. Further afield, about four kilometres away, is the larger town of Jelsa where many restaurants can be found, as well as several supermarkets. Jelsa also has a beautiful little Pijaca or square with several cafe bars as well as a lovely sumptuous ice cream parlour selling an array of homemade ice creams!

Jelsa offers a daily catamaran service to Split on the mainland via the gorgeous seaside resort of Bol, on the island of Brac. In the opposite direction is Stari Grad which has the car ferry operated by Jadrolinija offering an extensive service in the summer as well as a regular service during the out of season months.
