Meandering through the countryside of Valdera you feel the vestiges of the mysterious Etruscan civilization. Casciana Terme, just a few kms away, has thermal waters and spa facilities and is another pretty town with piazzas and cafes. The nearby 'città d’arte' (cities of art) include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence, which are all within an easy distance for wonderful days out, and they are a delight to explore.
