Tremezzina is a municipality born in the merger of the municipalities of Lenno, Mezzegra, Ossuccio and Tremezzo. Tremezzo gave its name to the Riviera della Tremezzina or Riviera of azaleas, praised since the Middle Ages as a place of eternal spring. In Tremezzo, Lake Como opens to the north, although it still appears divided by the Bellagio peninsula. In Rogaro, a hamlet of Tremezzo, it is possible to visit an ancient tower, dating back to medieval fortifications. The signs of history in these places range from prehistoric tombs to the remains of the medieval Watchtower. Among the villas in Tremezzo, the most celebrated is Villa Carlotta, open to the public, surrounded by a wonderful Italian garden with a graceful fountain in front of the entrance to the villa, box hedges, exotic and rare plants. The Marquis Giorgio Clerici began construction of the villa in the early eighteenth century.
