Penela is a historical town with nice open squares and well restored Knights Templar Castle famed for its Medieval Festivals and other events throughout the year. There is everything you could hope to find in this pretty town, the library, swimming pools, cinema, health centre, hotel with pool, gym, spa & weekly market and several good restaurants and coffee shops. The stunning city of Coimbra is approximately 20 minutes drive and the market towns of Ampthill 10 minutes and 15 minutes Slate.
